Partnership creates significant expansion of product pipeline
CHICAGO, USA, November 26, 2018 – Quantib, a Medical Imaging AI company and University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht) announced today to setup a joint venture company focused on deep learning utilizing the extensive expertise and imaging data available at UMC Utrecht. The collaboration, in which both UMC Utrecht and Quantib invested manpower, know-how and capital, will be working closely with researchers from the Image Sciences Institute as well as clinicians from the Department of Radiology. All ingredients come together for fast tracked AI algorithm development that is relevant for patients: deep clinical experience, large scale structured medical data, deep learning talent and regulatory expertise.
With UMC Utrecht onboard, in addition to continuing strong ties with Erasmus MC, Quantib is now backed by two of the most influential radiology groups in Europe. Over the past years Quantib has built a top-notch team that fast-tracks AI algorithm development from academic research to regulatory approval. "I am enthusiastic that we are joining hands with Quantib to bring AI tools to clinical practice in a meaningful way for patients. We make available some of our top talent to work on this collaboration" said Dr. Oscar Schoots, CEO of Utrecht Holdings, the knowledge transfer office of UMC Utrecht.
“I’m thrilled to partner with the Utrecht team. They perfectly complement the existing team in Rotterdam in terms of scientific and clinical expertise, as well as expertise to deploy algorithms in routine clinical practice” said Arthur Post Uiterweer, Quantib CEO. “We also significantly increase the amount and variation of medical image data that can be used for algorithm training, validation and testing.”
